Immerse yourself in the untouched beauty of the Neretva Delta, one of Croatia’s most fascinating natural landscapes!
Your adventure begins with a scenic drive along the picturesque Adriatic coast. Along the way, enjoy a wine-tasting stop, where you’ll sample fine local wines while taking in stunning views of vineyards and the shimmering sea. Upon arrival in the Neretva Delta, embark on a traditional photo safari, gliding through tranquil marshlands aboard a Neretvan lađa – a wooden boat once used by local fishermen and farmers. As you navigate narrow canals, keep your camera ready to capture the diverse flora and fauna, from elegant herons and cormorants to vibrant water lilies floating on the surface.
During your up-to-two-hour boat ride, savor a taste of local tradition with a homemade Neretva liqueur and dried figs – a simple yet authentic treat that perfectly complements this serene experience. After the safari, sit down to a traditional Neretva lunch featuring fresh local ingredients and regional specialties – the perfect way to round off your exploration of this unique river landscape. Surrounded by pristine nature, rich history, and local charm, this 8-hour excursion offers a rare glimpse into the serene beauty of Croatia’s largest river delta. oyster tasting, available upon request and for an additional fee.
The Neretva region was once home to Narona, a major Roman city and trading hub. In 1995, archaeologists discovered the remains of a Roman temple, the Augusteum, with 17 marble statues of emperors and deities. Today, the Narona Archaeological Museum, built directly on the ancient site, showcases these remarkable artifacts, offering a glimpse into the region’s Roman past.
The Neretva Delta is often called the ‘Croatian California’ due to its fertile land and ideal climate for citrus and fruit production. The region is particularly famous for its mandarins, with millions of them harvested each year. In autumn, the delta transforms into a vibrant landscape of orange groves, and locals celebrate the mandarin harvest with festivals and traditional gatherings.
